Itani Ramen Now Open (For the Moment)

by Kayoko Akabori

We’ve all been patiently waiting for Itani Ramen to open its doors. The time has come… THIS WEEKEND! Kyle Itani, co-owner of Hopscotch restaurant, has been working on this project for years — we even went to his Ramen Nights at Hopscotch, way back when. Yes, opening a late-night ramen spot has always been a dream of Kyle’s and we are so excited that it’s happening!

Located right across the Fox Theater in Oakland in the Uptown district, Itani Ramen will showcase the casual, no-frills nature of a traditional ramen-ya. They’ll make the noodles in-house and the gyoza will be made from an actual gyoza-making machine from Japan. Yoko and I went to check it out last week, it was rad! And the gyozas are truly delicious!

Saturday March 19 – Sunday March 20: 6pm – Midnight
Friday March 25 – Sunday March 27:
6pm – Midnight
Friday April 1 – Sunday April 3: 6pm – Midnight

After these dates, Kyle will take a short break and will hopefully be back with a full-time schedule.
