Coconut water alongside the Ipanema beach. Coconuts are cut in front of your eyes along the beaches of Rio for 3-4 reais ($2). The water is clear and has a tinge of saltiness to it.
One of the few things you could get from roadside vendors in India, because the only source of contamination is the vendor’s knife and you drink the water with a freshly unpacked straw. Can’t eat the fruit, though — aforementioned vendor’s knife. One of my favs on a warm summer’s day.
